ANCESTRY OF VERN ELIJAH ROGERS

BOLTZ/PULTS BRANCH: ARMILDA PULTS (GEN. 3) TO JOHANN MICHAEL BOLTZ (GEN. 8)

Gen. 8: Johann Michael Boltz, b. about 1701 (Eggenstein, Germany), d. 1783 (Lebanon Twp., Lancaster Co., PA); m., Maria Barbara Lauten, b. about 1701 (Wuertt Jagstkreis, Germany), d. before 1783 (Lebanon Twp., Lancaster Co., PA). Johann, Maria, and three children arrived aboard the “William” in 1737 with a group of 180 settlers from the Palatinate.

Gen. 7: John Michael Boltz, b. 1733 (Eggenstein, Germany), d. 1806 (Jefferson Co., WV), bur. Union Church Center (Middleway, WV); m. 1757 (Lancaster, PA), Eleanor Veronica Firnssler, d. 1806. John was a Private, 3rd Class in the 2nd Battalion Lancaster County Militia from 1777-1781.

Gen. 6: Frederick Pults, b. 1769 (Lancaster, PA), d. about 1875 (Johnson City, TN); m., Esther Woods, b. about 1770.

Gen. 5: John Frederick Pults, b. 1788 (Virginia), d. 1876 (Fentress Co., TN).  There is disagreement about the identity of John’s first census. I am following the 1820 census record, which suggests John had a wife and three daughters before his marriage to Anna Mullinix.

Gen. 4: Frederick Commodore Perry Pults, b. between 1821 and 1824 (Fentress Co., TN), d. 1863 (St.. Louis, MO); m. Susan Esther Wood, b. about 1824. Frederick was a Confederate soldier who was part of Coleman's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry, Company C. He was captured by the Union in 1863 at or near his home in Texas Co., MO, and was held in St, Louis, where appears to have died of small pox. His second wife Louisa died soon after his capture, and as a result, the children were scattered.

Gen. 3: Armilda Pults, b. 1847 (Fentress Co., TN), d. 1908, bur. Bethel Cemetery (Summerville, MO); m. 1868 (Texas Co., MO), Richard H. House, b. about 1838, d. 1920, bur. Bethel Cemetery (Summerville, MO). During the Civil War, Richard was a member of Company D, 30th Arkansas Infantry.
